Sign Language Communication
Certificate
Description
The Certificate in Sign Language Communication is designed for a diverse group of learners, including high school students interested in dual enrollment, professionals with a desire to use ASL at work, parents with deaf children, and adults interested in learning a new language. This online program allows students the flexibility of learning ASL while maintaining their current set of responsibilities wherever they are in the world. This certificate is complete in and of itself but can be a pathway for certificate bearers to continue studies in the Deaf Studies undergraduate program at Carolina University.
Applicants who have some knowledge of ASL can be screened to be placed in the appropriate ASL course. If the student screens out of a beginning ASL course, the Deaf Cultural and Conversational Skills Lab(s) will be added to their certificate plan.
