Description

The Master of Science (MS) in Criminology program provides advanced knowledge in crime, criminal behavior, and the criminal justice system. Students study criminological theory, research methods, policy analysis, and specialized topics like forensic criminology and terrorism. Practical experiences include research projects and internships to develop skills in data analysis and policy evaluation. Graduates are prepared for careers in criminal justice administration, research, policy analysis, and leadership roles in law enforcement and nonprofit organizations.

  • Gain mastery of theoretical and practical criminal justice system knowledge to better understand factors that are reshaping and redefining the administration of justice.
  • Utilize effective research methods, data, and communication techniques within the disciplinary context supported by the necessary critical analytical skills.

  • Integrate course-specific skills and knowledge while being able to identify ethical dilemmas and resolve those dilemmas.
  • Demonstrate understanding of state-of-the-art technological tools to enhance criminal justice processes and deliver superior outcomes.

Admissions Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a recognized institution
  • Credentials earned outside of the US must be evaluated by an approved agency
  • GPA of 2.7 or higher
  • Official transcripts from all previously attended institutions
  • Completed application with Carolina University

Graduation Requirements

  • Shall have maintained a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0;
  • Shall have passed all courses in the curriculum and made a C or better professional core courses;
  • Shall have completed at least six of the final nine hours with Carolina University.
