Description

The Bachelor of Science (BS) in Biology program focuses on deep knowledge of core concepts in biology, chemistry, math, and physics. Students engage in challenging courses and lab opportunities to become independent thinkers and problem solvers. Students sharpen research skills, critical thinking, and scientific reasoning while building a foundation for diverse career options. With a flexible curriculum and diverse electives, students tailor their education to specific interests. This program prepares students for graduate degrees in health-related fields and diverse career opportunities in the biological sciences.

Program Learning Outcomes

  • Have a knowledge base of core concepts in biology, including molecular and cellular biology, integrative biology, plant biology, and microbiology.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the different levels of biological organization, from molecules to ecosystems.
  • Explain the importance of micro- and macro-evolution for understanding structural and functional diversity in biology.
  • Be able to approach problem solving with critical thinking skills and scientific reasoning.
  • Demonstrate competence in the communication of scientific data and ideas.

Admissions Requirements

  • A high school diploma or GED
  • Credentials earned outside of the US must be evaluated by an approved agency
  • GPA of 2.0 or higher
  • Official transcripts from all previously attended institutions
  • Completed application with Carolina University

Graduation Requirements

  • Shall have maintained a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0;
  • Shall have passed all courses in the curriculum and made a C- or better in professional core courses;
  • Shall have completed at least 24 of the final 30 hours with Carolina University.
