Description

The Bachelor of Science (BS) in Public Health program prepares students to tackle health challenges on a societal scale through a comprehensive understanding of socio-economic, behavioral, biological, environmental, and other factors that impact human health and contribute to health disparities. Students learn research methods, health policy analysis, community needs assessments, epidemiology, and statistics. Gain knowledge in health behavior, advocacy, and effective communication, while learning to apply evidence-based approaches and project implementation techniques. Become a catalyst for positive change and develop skills essential for impactful public health careers.

Program Learning Outcomes

  • Demonstrate sound knowledge of the tenets of public health, its core values, concepts, functions, ethics, organizational structures and regulations
  • Apply the tools of statistics, public health data collection, use, and analysis; comprehend the importance of evidence-based approaches
  • Distinguish the socioeconomic, behavioral, biological, environmental, and other factors that impact human health and contribute to health disparities
  • Demonstrate the fundamental concepts and features of project implementation, including planning, assessment, and evaluation
  • Communicate using basic concepts of public health-specific communication, including using technology tools

Admissions Requirements

  • A high school diploma or GED
  • Credentials earned outside of the US must be evaluated by an approved agency
  • GPA of 2.0 or higher
  • Official transcripts from all previously attended institutions
  • Completed application with Carolina University

Graduation Requirements

  • Shall have maintained a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0;
  • Shall have passed all courses in the curriculum and made a C- or better professional core courses;
  • Shall have completed at least 24 of the final 30 hours with Carolina University.
